Chapter 50

It has been a couple of hours since Karishma was taken to the OT. All MPT members, Ammi & Jiya had also reached the hospital and everybody was waiting in the corridor for any update about Karishma's health.

Haseena was sitting on the bench resting her head on the wall with closed eyes. She was wiping the tears falling from the corner of her eyes in between. Karishma's smiling face was flashing in front of her. The sound of her heartfelt laughter, her teasing smile, her mischievous antics, her innocent eyes..her mind was wandering around Karishma and her thoughts. She looked at her hands which had Karishma's blood on it and then at the ring which Karishma had made her wear on their special day. She caressed it with her fingers and then kissed it with affection.

Pushpa ji and Ammi both were crying silently while rest were sitting there with tensed faces. After sometime Cheeta and Raj brought tea and water for them. Santu and Jiya forcefully made Both ammi and Pushpaji have it.

Ammi said in a concerned tone "Jiya, tu Haseena ke paas ja, usko sambhal beta. Kuch bhi nahi bol rahi hai, bus ro rahi hai kabse. Aur filhal sirf tujhse hi khul ke baat kar payegi woh."

Santu said with a sad tone "Ab unki smile koi wapas la sakta hai, to woh sirf Karishma madam hain. Jab tak woh thik nahi ho jati tab tak madam sir aisi hi rahengi."

Pushpaji said with teary eyes "Han, Rishu ke liye unka pyaar kisi se chupa nahi hai. Bade naseeb se Rishu ki zindagi me itna pyaar, itni khushiyan aayi thi. Pata nahi kiski nazar lag gayi."

Jiya nodded in assurance and moved towards Haseena who was gazing at her ring with teary eyes. She sat beside her and kept her hand on her knees saying in a soft tone "Haseena, le thoda sa paani pi le."

Haseena turned her face to the other side and said in a heavy tone "humein nahi chahiye kuch bhi."

Jiya caressed her back and said "Kuch nahi hoga unko..tu aise pareshan ho jayegi to baaki sab kaise sambhalenge khud ko. Tujhe rote dekhengi toh Karishma ko kaise lagega."

Haseena said in a crying tone " Tujhe pata hai Jiya, Humein ek cheenk bhi aati hai na, to Karishma pura ghar sar pe utha leti hai. Hum jab tak khana na khayein to majal hai ki woh ek bhi niwala kha lein. Hamari har takleef ko humse pehle samjh leti hain. Chillana chhor, unhone humse unchi awaz me kabhi baat tak nahi ki. Ladai hoti hai toh bhi humein kisi baat se thes na pahuche uska khyal rakhti hain. Aur hum..Humne kya kiya unke sath..Kaise bol diya humne woh sab kuch. Itna sab hone ke baad bhi, bus isiliye ki hum ghar se na jayein, woh khud chali gayi.."

She started to cry profusely while jiya just hugged her tightly. She said while crying "Hum jante the ki woh Dil ki kitni masum hain, fir aisa sab bol diya unko. Dekh na hamari baat unhone dil par le li hai. Unko bol na uthne ke liye..hum nahi kahenge kabhi aisa..Bus iss baar ke liye humein maaf kar dein."

She started to sob loudly while Jiya said in a comforting tone "Haseena, main keh rahi hun na..wo bilkul thik ho jayengi."

Haseena shook her head but could not control her tears and spoke within hiccups "Kitna dard ho rha tha unko, kitne khoon beh raha tha. Humara na dil hi baith gaya unko aise dekh kar. Pata hai, behoshi me bhi humein pukar rahi thi wo. Humari wajah se ho raha hai ye sab kuch. Hum unke aur unke pyar ke layak hi nahi hain. Unko thik hona padega jiya. Hum khud ko bhi khatam kar lenge agar unko kuch ho gaya toh. Hum jaan de denge hamari."

Jiya just shushed her saying "Chup kar..kuch bhi bolti hai. Tu dekhiyo, unko kuch bhi nahi hoga."

After sometime the doctor came out and everyone rushed towards him. The doctor formally informed in a serious tone "Dekhiye bullet humne nikal di hai and koi bhi fatal internal injury nahi hui thi kyuki bullet chest cavity ko penetrate nahi kar payi thi. But she had undergone a cardiac arrest during the surgery. Aur kaafi blood loss bhi ho chuka tha hospital aane se pehle."
