Alex didn't deliver the letter until after mythology. But he didn't give it to Magnus.

Instead, he pulled Shel and Sadie into a corner. "First off, this isn't about Magnus, okay?"

Shel and Sadie just looked at each other, Shel's hand inching toward her keys. Alex didn't know that the blue one could be transformed into a knife with a flick of a finger.

"What did Magnus not do?" Shel asked.

"It's not about Magnus," Alex repeated.

    "Okay, then what happened?"

"Are you going to kill Magnus?"

Shel simply raised a brow. It was not comforting.

"I promise," Alex said. "It's about Adrian."

"Who in the fuck is Adrian," Sadie asked.

"I never told you about Adrian?"

"No, you never told us about Adrian, Alex. Who is Adrian?" Shel said with reproach while crossing her arms.

"He's my ex, kind of? I don't really know. He killed himself two-ish years ago."

Shel's gaze immediately softened. "Shit, I'm sorry."

Alex snorted. "Okay, but I just wanted to talk to someone about this. So, one day Adrian and I go home, right. We were hanging out with his family, and apparently, I didn't make a good impression on his uncle or something. I guess they were close."

Alex had his hair tied up that day. When he was younger, his hair went just past his shoulder and was still his natural brown.

In all honesty, Alex didn't really like Uncle Brad, but he tried his best not to show it.

    Apparently, it didn't work.

Adrian waited until they were at his house to bring that up. "God, he hated you."

    "Who?" Alex had asked.

"What the fuck do you mean 'who?' Uncle Brad!" Adrian had yelled. "You know he means a lot to me, Alex."

"I'm sorry," Alex had said, sinking into Adrian's bed. "I guess I just didn't make a good impression, but it's just who I am. I just need more time to open up. I'm sure if I see him again, it'll get better."

"Jesus fucking Christ," Adrian yelled. "First impressions matter, Alex! You can't just expect it to patch up."

"I'm sorry! I get it. But yes, I can expect it to patch up. Maybe I was just awkward. I didn't know anyone there!"

"You're sorry?" Adrian had asked, suddenly looking at Alex.

    "Yes, I'm sorry."

"Then you'll make it up to me."

"Yeah, I can apologize to your Uncle for being stiff," Alex had said, not noticing how Adrian was stepping closer to him.

"I meant right now." Adrian took off Alex's flannel, placing his hands on Alex's hips, kissing him firmly. The kiss actually hurt.

Adrian moved his hands up Alex's shirt and slowly kissed his neck.

"Adrian, I don't want to do this right n--"
