"To the...gala?" Zelda asked cautiously.
"..."
Zelda's mind was conflicted and her heart was fluttering.
What do I say? I'm so nervous...!
"You don't...have to say yes."
"No no! I just...what about Peach? Won't she be upset?"
Link glanced down at the ground with a sad expression.
"Oh I'm sorry, did you guys..."
"She's just taking someone else."
I guess that's something Peach would do...
"Who's she taking?"
"Shulk..."
"What..."
That's weird, don't those two have bad blood between each other? Why would Peach bail on Link...? Makes no sense..
"Then...let's go together, Link."
"???"
"I would love to go with you!"
Link raised his eyebrow suspiciously.
"Yes really! I'd definitely have the most fun with you," Zelda smiled, "The nurse says I'll be all good by Thursday."
Link smiled back at her warmly.
"I'll uh pick you up at 7:30 Friday?"
"Great! I'm so excited, thank you!"
She leaned down towards Link from her slightly elevated bed and embraced him. Link sat still for a moment, then hugged her back. Their triforces glowed blue once again, but they didn't even notice.
Link pulled away from her as he heard his watch beep. He gestured that he had to leave for work and that he couldn't stay any longer.
"Oh sorry for holding you back! Thanks for stopping by!"
He nodded, smiling, and walked out of her room.
Meanwhile...
"WHAT?!"
"Sorry Daisy..."
"Marth...you've got to be kidding."
"I'm serious though about what I said."
"...."
"...."
"YOU CAN'T JUST DUMP ME A WEEK BEFORE THE GALA!"
"Daisy I honestly can't do this anymore I'm sorry."
"I don't get it at all! What did I even do to you? If anything, I should be dumping you!"
