Chapter fifteen

Fear..pfft! Just a word!

On the surface, the Anta clan is one of the most respected noble families in Maicki. This isn't because of status but because of the core level of admiration people feel for two extremely learned figures to emerge from their ranks. Alas! When one reaches a level of power, one starts to get arrogant and to an extent, overconfident. This is exactly what happened to malam Sagir.

Who would've thought that less than a century later, they will be back with a true heir. Despite all the preparations, they somehow got lucky. This is why when dealing with a problem, it needed to be removed from the roots. This is Malam sagir's greatest regret. He should've annihilated every single direct line of the Alkali no matter the cost.

Anyway, as he grew even more confident, he saw no need to hide some of his power. So he began to show off his students. He would take in students who are willing to follow him and in a very short period, they lose sight of what they've been there to learn in the first place. What they feel would be veneration and utter trust. This rose to a scary degree that people began to suspect that this Malam isn't very simple.

Countless incidences revealed their true colors step by step. But it is still something if a conjecture. Until Sultana started to mix in with her peers. What people suspected, began to solidify. Sultana was an absolute monster. Her primary weakness is her selfish heart. What she wants, she gets. No matter who she has to sacrifice to get it. It isn't uncommon for her to hit people's children with her car and people will be afraid to even voice their complaints. Of course even her brother wasn't clean. Salim is used to challenging anyone he so desires whether he is in the right or not. For those who defy malam Sagir, they simply doe in their sleep.

Finally, the whispers started in the form of rumors. That the Antas coveted the throne! But who can stop them? What can they do about it? The struggle for power started seamlessly and after a lot of low key strategies, the Anta clan gained very many supporters. For the mo of the elite society, it's a known fact that if you want a position, fame or money, join the Antas and malam Sagir will help you! In fact, if your only problem is an enemy, swear allegiance and they will eradicate him for you!

So many key figures in Maikci where shaken by this. And so many more joined the Antas.

The biggest problem the Antas faced is the pride of deep cultural accomplishments which many elite figures were unwilling to give up. Giving up the cultural ways even a tiny bit will leach off their power. And why not? The more powerful you are in Maicki, the more you control the flow of events on a larger scale, the more people give you face and the more your family prosper. This is primarily based on the Royal heritage rule!

The Royal line cannot be bought. It can only be earned through blood!

The Antas were not that high in the Royal sect. Naturally, there are many families which are more qualified to rule and the elites feel no matter the cost, they will rather die than submit to the Antas!

The tide of politics is actually terrifying. Despite how many emirs perished in this war for supremacy, the elites will not be shaken!
