Colby's POV

I watched as Violet walked down the street, her shoulders shaking as if she was crying. "Fuuuck." I groaned and looked down at my phone. I clicked the answer button, knowing that I should have chased after Violet.

"Hello?" I breathed out. "Colby, where the fuck are you?! I'm about to go on." Lucy said angrily as I ruffled my hair. "Shit. I'm sorry Lucy...something came up and I forgot to tell you that I couldn't come anymore. I'm sorry." I said and stood up so I could walk back to the house.

"What could be so important? You know how much this meant to me." She said as I paced back and forth. "Someone I care about's grandma died. The funeral was today." I explained as she sighed. "Well I'm last in the set...you can probably still make it." She said as I pursed my lips.

"I'm in Ohio, Lucy. I won't be back for a couple days." I said as Ki came out of the house, staring me down. "Isn't that where that Violet girl lives?" She asked as I nodded. "Yeah." I said and started walking towards the house again.

"So you care about her more than me?" Lucy accused as I sighed. "It's complicated." I said as she huffed out a breath. "Tell me that you care more about me or I don't believe you." She said as I inwardly groaned.

"Don't do this right now. I'm sorry I let you down, I just wasn't thinking. I'm sorry." I said as I walked up to Ki. She had her arms crossed as she glared at me.

"Whatever Colby, have fun." Lucy said then hung up. "Ki-" I started but was interrupted by Ki rolling her eyes. "What did you do?" She accused. "I didn't do anything, Ki. Lucy called me." I said as she rolled her eyes.

"What did the wicked witch want?" She asked as I breathed a laugh. "What do you have against her?" I asked as she clenched her jaw.

"She's not Violet. That's what I have against her. You didn't even give Violet a chance to fucking better herself before you got a new girl!" Ki yelled as I looked away from her.

"We're j-" I started but was interrupted again. "You're NOT just friends and you fucking know it. I see you two kiss. Do you know how much that would fucking kill Violet?! She didn't leave you because she doesn't love you, she left you because she loves you too fucking much." She said as I looked at her again.

"You don't know that." I said with a sigh. I wanted to believe her but the mean person in my head was telling me that she didn't love me and that's why she left.

That's the whole reason I let Lucy into my life. I needed to fill the void that Violet had left in my heart.

"I'm her best fucking friend. Of course I know that that's the reason." She said as I closed my eyes. "I should go talk to her." I said as she shook her head.

"Not tonight. Just let her mourn tonight. She doesn't need any more stress." She said as I nodded. "Will you make sure she's okay?" I asked as she sighed. "You know I will." She said as we went inside. "Thanks, Ki. You're a great friend." I said as we went into the living room.

"I know. I swear to god Colby if you hurt her though, I'm going to kill you. I don't care if you're some hot shot youtuber I will absolutely gut you." She threatened as I nodded. "I'd deserve it." I said then sat on the couch as she went up to check on Violet.

"You good?" Sam asked as I shrugged. "I don't know man." I said as he frowned. "What happened?" He asked causing me to sigh. "We almost kissed but got interrupted by Lucy calling me." I said as he sucked in a breath.

"Ah shit...she had that show tonight didn't she." Sam said as I rubbed my face. "Yeah...I completely forgot." I groaned.

I felt bad that I forgot about Lucy's show but when Sam told me that Violet's grandma had passed the only thing I could think about was getting to her.

I didn't care about anything else in that moment.

I knew that I was trying to push down the fact that I was still in love with Violet. I didn't want to admit it because I knew if I did then I would go to any length to get her back. She needed her space, and I had to respect that.

It didn't matter now though.

I knew I was madly in love with her.

"Dude?" Sam asked then nudged me. "Sorry." I mumbled then shook my hair out. "What were you thinking about?" Kat asked as I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. I'm tired, I think we should head to the hotel soon." I said and twisted my rings.

"Yeah, we can head out." Sam said and stood up as Ki came down the stairs. "What's going on?" She asked as everyone stood up. "We're gonna head out." I said as she nodded. "Alright, Violet went to bed but we'll see you guys tomorrow?" She asked as we all walked towards the front door.

"Yeah, we'll text you." Sam said as I went outside. As much as I wanted to stay and win Violet back, a bigger part of me just wanted to go back to the hotel and sleep off the mess that was today.

I needed to be well rested if I was going to get Violet back.

"So what are you gonna do about Lucy?" Sam asked as we drove back to the hotel. "I have no idea dude...I seriously just think of her as a friend but I've made some mistakes so now I think I'm stuck." I said as Kat looked back at me.

"Like what? Kissing her?" She asked as I nodded. "She always kissed me first, but I kissed her back. I don't know, I just didn't want to be mean." I explained as Kat sighed.

"Well...it will be more mean if you lead her on." She said as I nodded. "You're right." I said with a sigh. "I should talk to her in person though. It's not fair to break something off with someone over text." I said as we pulled into the parking lot of the hotel.

"Yeah, I mean I think she got the hint when you ditched her for another girl." Corey said next to me. "I didn't ditch her for another girl, I ditched her to go to a funeral." I said as Sam parked the car.

"Yeah, a funeral for someone you've never met before." Kat retorted. "Why are you guys making such a big deal about this? You guys are here too." I said as we got out of the car.

"It's a big deal because you're in love with Violet and you're not admitting it." Kat said as I rolled my eyes. "It's not that simple. She doesn't want to be with me right now, she's scared to be with me. I can't just force myself on her." I said as we went into the hotel.

"What do you mean she's scared to be with you?" Sam asked as we walked towards the elevators. "She told me that I make her happy and that it scares her." I said quietly.

"That makes sense. She's been through a lot of loss and heartbreak. I think it's pretty normal for her to want to guard her heart after everything. You just have to break her walls down and prove that you love her." Kat said and patted my back.

"I'm gonna try." I said then walked to my room. "Goodnight, guys." I said then opened the door. "Night! Keep your phone on, we're gonna make plans for tomorrow." Kat said as I nodded and walked into my room.

As soon as I was in the room I groaned, ripping my tie off and throwing it across the room. As I got undressed I thought about how today went. I knew it could have went way worse than it did but I couldn't help but feel like I messed up.

I had felt like I thought that Violet and I were getting closer but maybe I was wrong. Maybe coming here just made everything worse.

I groaned, feeling my head ache from the amount of stress I was feeling.

I ended up laying in bed, wide awake for hours thinking about every little thing that happened today.

I knew I loved Violet but I didn't know if I wanted to stress her out by trying to get together with her again. Giving her any more stress was the last thing I wanted for her.

I just wanted her to be happy.

That's all I ever wanted for her.
