Amy was entering the office, followed by Charles, who was holding some cups of coffee, and Rosa.
She saw Jake who, strangely, was at his desk and Y/n sitting at hers.

"Whoa! why are you here before me, Jake?
Am I asleep? Is this a dream?
Y/n, wow you're early too!" She exclaimed, smiling a little.

"I am early because Jimmy Brogan is here today" Jake replied, turning with his chair towards them.

"I'm usually late just because Jake picks me up. I was lucky today" Y/n smiled, looking up from the monitor.

"I could pick you up" Amy proposed, arching her eyebrows.

"Nah, I prefer Jake" she shrugged and looked back at the monitor.

"Woah! That was a declaration of love!" Charles gasped, putting a hand to his chest and looking at the others, to see whether or not they had the same reaction as him.

"No, she says that because I'm buying her breakfast. I spend more money on breakfasts for her than on taxes" Jake clarified, making a face.

"I buy you dinner though" she argued, glaring at him.

"Yeah true" he turned to her and nodded.

"Weird, I thought you were tax evading" Rosa claimed, smirking and drinking from her cup.

"Maybe" and he replied, winking.

"Why do you care so much about some old reporter?" Rosa asked, confused.

"Some old reporter? Is the sky just some big blue hat that the world wears?" Jake asked, throwing his hands up in exasperation.

"No. And no one has ever thought that" she assessed, walking to her desk.

"My point exactly. Jimmy Brogan wrote the squad about badass new york cops in the '70s. It's the best book I've ever read, and I've read 15 books" Jake affirmed, proud of himself.

"50 books is not a lot. Wait-- you said 15?" Amy asked surprised, after she walked over to her desk to put down her things, and sat down.

"Yeah I know, an illiterate reads more than him" Y/n whispered, leaning towards her, and Amy nodded chuckling.

"The squad is what made me decide to become a detective. And it was my first book report.
Fun side note-- I late lost my virginity to Mrs. Stratton's daughter. It was...very fast" Jake mentioned, talking to Charles.

"Ok..." Y/n muttered, rolling her eyes.

"Nice" Charles added, doing a thumbs up.

"Mr. Brogan, these are detectives Santiago, Y/l/n and Peralta" Holt introduced, using his arm to point at them.

"Mr. Brogan, I am a huge fan of your book. Would you mind signing my copy?" Jake asked, failing to hold back the excitement.

"I'd love to. It's always nice to meet a fan" the old man smiled, taking the book from Jake's hands.

"You can just make it out to 'death wish'. That's what everyone calls me, 'cause I'm always first through the door" Jake emphasized, trying to be tough.

"You go through doors normally, and everyone calls you Pineapples" Amy corrected, as Y/n laughed and tried to hide it by pretending to cough, because Jake glared at her.

"My grandma calls me pineapples-those new york cops from the '70s you wrote about were my idols--I mean, Gaminsky, Cavanaugh, Quigg".

"Those guys were the real deal. I once saw Gaminsky choke a hippy to death with his own ponytail" Mr. Brogan illuminated, thickening his tone of voice.
