Three years after the events of the second movie, Spike and his friends have been become full-fledged N.E.S.T. agents helping the Autobots solve human matters on Earth. Spike and Carly's relationship has also gotten more intimate, with Spike wishing to tie the knot with Carly, but his commitment to helping the Autobots and N.E.S.T. in protecting the planet keeps getting in the way along with his sheer lack of self-confidence. but with the help of Bumblebee, he eventually gains the confidence to finally get down on one knee and propose to Carly.

Carly Spencer
Three years after the events of the second movie, Carly and Arcee have strengthened their bond as partners while working for N.E.S.T. finally being able to move on from the loss of Jazz (RIP). her and spike have also gotten more intimate with their relationship, but she is totally oblivious to Spike's true feelings for her (as in, he wants to "put a ring on it") due to the two's commitment to helping the Autobots and N.E.S.T. getting in the way.

Chad "Kicker" Jones
Three years after the events of the second movie, Kicker and Ironhide are still close partners while working for N.E.S.T. being a hot-headed gunslinger who loves being part of the action and good friend to Spike, showing how he has come a long way from being the dumb high school bully from the first film. however, things do not end well for him when his Autobot partner Ironhide is killed by Sentinel prime leaving him broken and alone. but Carly ends up comforting him, as she knows what it's like to lose an Autobot partner.
