Ruqayyah's POV

I ended up having to text Alex back that I couldn't meet him. I dial Dina's number because I know Zeinab is probably in school right now.

After the third ring, she answers, "Ola?" I could hear how confused she was. Of course, we have been speaking through social media and none of us were smart enough to think of asking for each other's number.

"Hey, it's me, Ruqayyah!" I answer back in Spanish and she squeals.

"Ruqayyah!? How come I haven't heard from you in two weeks? So is this how things work now? You start college and you ignore your best friend?"

"If you were that worried, you could have called me, drama queen."

"I missed you so much! How's London? Tell me everything! The college, your friends, everything!"

"Here's calm, nothing interesting going on. How's Zeinab?"

"She's really happy because I don't know if you are aware, but we will go there in two weeks to spend the half term, as you guys say it there. See my English isn't dead yet!"

"I can't wait for you guys to come seriously. I don't even know where I'm taking you lot, but..." I stop talking when my phone vibrates and I remove it from my ears to look at the screen. Alex was calling me.

"What happened?" I hear Dina say and I put her on loud speaker.

"It's just a call."

"Is it your parents? Where are you?"

"No, I'm home."

"Is it what you guys call prank calls? Pick up and let me talk, nobody messes with my best friend." She says gaining a smile from me.

"He hang up," I tell her as I regret not having picked up the call.

"He!? Ruqayyah, spill it out!" She was excited because out of us three, I used to be the one who literally despised boys.

"Tell me about the good news in Spain. Girl, you know you're getting old, right? When am I gonna meet my brother in law?" I question playfully.

We spoke for two whole hours. I really missed her and I didn't get to speak to Zeinab, unfortunately.

Alex didn't try to call me again. That shows how much he wanted to talk to me. I don't even know why I'm complaining. I should be happy because this is what I wanted... or maybe not. But this is what is right.... I should stop thinking about him seriously.

It's still too early, so I guess I'll go out for a walk. Before I could even agree with my mind, my mum called me from the living room.

I grab my purse and phone and walk my way to the living room.

When I arrive in the living room, I find Dawud sitting on the sofa and talking to my dad. If you hear him talk, you will think he's way older than he actually is. He's just this mature type of guy. But he still knows the difference between the moment to be serious and the moment to have fun. Once again, why couldn't I have fallen for him instead?

"Did you call, mum?" I ask as I spot her exiting the kitchen and both my dad and Dawud turn to me.

"I have a surprise for you!" My mum says sounding excited.

"What is it?"

"Oh, I can't tell you now, but you'll know tomorrow." She smiles knowing she just made me extra curious.

"Then why did you tell me now?"

"Just to make you curious and to cause a little bit of suspense." She states making us laugh.
