As I watched Mahira walk out of the room, her head held high and her eyes blazing with determination, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. She had passed the test I had set for her, and she had done it with flying colors.

I had been watching her for a while now, and I had to admit, I was impressed. She was smart, resourceful, and didn't back down from a challenge. But I had to test her, to see if she had what it took to make it in this cutthroat world.

And she had proven herself, oh so beautifully. The way she had stood up to those two girls, the way she had demanded the truth, and the way she had accepted their apology... it was all so impressive.

But as I turned my attention to the two girls, my expression turned cold. They had insulted Mahira, and they had tried to ruin her reputation. They would pay for that.

"You two" I said, my voice was low and menacing. "You have crossed a line. You think you can just waltz in here and insult one of my partners ? You think you can try to ruin her reputation and get away with it?"

They cowered, their eyes wide with fear. They knew they had gone too far.

"You will apologize to Mahira, and you will mean it," I continued. "And then, you will pack up your things and leave. You are no longer welcome here."

Mahira stepped forward, her eyes pleading. "Mr.Rajput , please don't fire them. They're just misguided..."

But I held up a hand, my expression unyielding. "My decision is final, Mahira. They had their chance, and they blew it."

I gestured for Mahira to follow me, and she did, her eyes still shining with a hint of determination. We walked into my office, and I took my seat in my throne-like chair, while she sat on one of the sofas, a little far away from me. I was about to tell her something, to explain why I had been so hard on them , when a knock at the door interrupted us.

"Enter," I called out, and my assistant Kevin walked in.

"Sir, I have some news," he said, his eyes fixed on me. "The two girls who were involved in the incident earlier have submitted their resignation."

I nodded, a sense of satisfaction washing over me. "Good," I said. "I was expecting as much."

Kevin turned to Mahira and handed her a file. "This is for you, ms.Sengupta . It's the file sir asked me to give ."

And with that, he turned and left, not even waiting for my dismissal. I raised an eyebrow, impressed despite myself. Kevin knew how to read the room, and he knew when to leave well enough alone.

I turned my attention back to Mahira, who was opening the file and scanning its contents. Her eyes widened as she read, and I could see the gears turning in her head.

"Ah, I see you're intrigued," I said, a small smile playing on my lips. "Good. I think you'll find that this File will be a great opportunity for you to showcase your skills."

Mahira: (looking up) Yeah . It seems you've been collecting clues about your past.

Veeranshu: (nodding) Yes, I have. But to be honest, my memories of that time are hazy. I've tried to remember, but it's all so foggy.

Mahira: (encouragingly) Don't worry, Mr. Rajput. I'm your memory. I mean... (correcting herself) I've dreamt about  this so many times and written about your life, and I know it like the back of my hand.

Veeranshu: (raising an eyebrow) Oh? And what do you know about my life, Mahira?

Mahira: (smiling) Well, I've read your mind like an open book , Maharaja . I know all about your accomplishments and your struggles. And... (hesitating) I have to admit, I've seen you in my dreams for years.

Veeranshu: (surprised) Me !? In Your dreams?

Mahira: (quickly) I mean, I've seen your life unfold in my dreams. I know it sounds crazy , but it's true.

Veeranshu: (intrigued) Go on.

Mahira: (taking a deep breath) Well, in my dreams, I see you as a great leader, a king who shaped his world. And I see your struggles, your triumphs, and your heartbreaks. It's like I'm reliving your life through my dreams.

I leaned forward, my eyes piercing. "Mahira, tell me, what do you know about the Battle with my neighbour kingdom Raja Mahendra Pratap?"

She didn't flinch. "He attacked first because he wanted what you possess he wanted to become You  , but when the war started, like the coward king he was , he didn't  have the courage to fight and tried to offer you a deal of taking his wife and daughters for sparing his life ." She paused and looked at him. He was shocked.
She continued  " you didn't like woman as bargaining chip " , so you killed him ".

I was taken aback. She knew the details of a battle that had taken place over in 15th century,  she  even knew about the conversation we had before his death.

"How do you know this?" I demanded, my voice low and intense.

Mahira's eyes met mine, unwavering. "I've seen this with my own eyes ,oh I mean my closed eyes "
I leaned back in my chair, my mind racing. She was more than just a writer, wasn't she? She was my memory , someone who understood the intricacies of power and the weight of history. And I couldn't help but wonder...what else did she know?
