"You will do amazing in life"
"All your teachers love you"
"Keep up the good work!"
All things I've repeatedly been told
In my life.
And here's the thing-
I should be so proud
For getting these compliments.
But it's a weird burden.
Always being expected to be
"The smart, polite kid"
And if i'm not either one of those,
Who am I?
This poetry has taken a weird turn
And I'm sitting, writing this
In bed
On a Friday night
Eating a fluffernutter sandwich
And listening to "Write out loud"
