Hui Jie's POV:
She still dared to spite me, huh? What an asshole.
    The bell sounded.
I immediately picked up my bag and started packing up. I could not bear to spend another minute next to that wretch. "Sit down, Hui Jie. The bell doesn't dismiss you, I do." the teacher called sternly. I bit back my retaliation and plopped back onto my seat.
"Now, I want to brief you all about the upcoming overseas trip. Pay attention. Especially you, Lilith. No phone activity until I finish and dismiss the class."
The students collectively groaned. Damn, there goes my lunchtime, stupid teacher.
I barely gave a shit about whatever that old lady was droning on about for the following 20 minutes. Hell, all I had to hear was "Okay so for this year's trip we will be going to Chiang Mai" and I zoned out. Daydreaming about made-up scenarios was much more fun anyway.
I heard a sharp tap on my desk and jolted back to reality.
"LISTEN UP WILL YOU?" the teacher screeched.
I remained silent as a few students struggled to stifle a giggle. I threw them an icy stare.
"Okay, lastly, I will now assign you your partners for this trip, then you lot can leave," she said, walking back to the board.
She dug around in her drawer and fished out a crumpled, cabbage-textured copy of our class list.
"Ezekiel with Florence, Caydence with Javier, Lucas with..."
Time passed slower by tenfold before she got to my name. She scanned the class, looking for a victim–I mean, a partner for me.
    "...Lilith."
What? No! I flinched and spun around to face Lilith. She looked as shocked as I did. The tension in the class elevated and everyone grew deadly silent; everyone was well aware of the grudge between us. The teacher peered at us from behind her glasses which were perched lowly on her nose.
"Is there a problem?" she said.
I started to protest, but Lilith beat me to it.
"None at all, Miss," she replied, recovering her calm composure within seconds.
That was not what I had expected. Why would she agree to this? Gosh, my life is hard enough already, I do not need to spend a torturous week with this idiot. I sighed and slumped on my table. Well, no use arguing now, lest I get another detention.
