A Rogue and A Royal

The Prolouge

"I hear the bells of war already, it's so deafening I can't even hear the laughter of the children anymore, not even your daughter, and you were always the loudest of the bunch." a tall and lean woman said as she looked over a large village inside of a large breath-taking cobblestone castle. She stood on the balcony with a short and wide-eyed little girl who looked about four years old, she stood next to her poking at the two large heart crystals on her bracelets. The woman saw this and picked up the child.

"No no, no Sky. We don't poke at our crystals, don't you remember what daddy told you?" the woman said with her graceful and gentle voice. Sky looks at the woman with her bright and vibrant green eyes and plays with her mother's silky white hair that blended in with the woman's pale skin, giggling.

"What did daddy teach you about that?" said the woman, more stern.

"The crystals are what is keeping you alive. Never poke at them, take them off, or shatter them. And to never EVER get a boyfriend from the South since they're rough and meanies!" Sky said, with a big smile on her face showing her missing tooth. Her light blue hair shines in the sunlight. "Right Mira?"

Mira giggled. "Okay, pop quiz, and if you pass you'll get some candy, deal?" Sky nodded eagerly.

"Okay, question one, what is the name of each division in Morana?" Mira asked.

"Easy! The North where it snows and snows and snows, which is our home! The Northeast where clans thrive, specifically the Anubi clan! The East, known as the cowards! The Southeast, the not so cowardly! The South where all the meanies live in the sand! The Southwest is full of cowboys and boom booms! The West is full of inventors and wise people dedicated to research! The Northwest which our full or really scary forests and finally Compass Union in the center of it all doing its absolute best to prevent wars and famine!" Sky smiles knowing she got it correct.

"Good job! Now name all your siblings from youngest to oldest and the pop quiz is done!" Mira said with a small smile on her face.

"Charmix, Ivy, me, Sunset, Ember, and finally Moonlight!" Sky answered. A small baby boy with pretty brown hair and bright green eyes with an odd upside down spade mark on his cheek crawls in, he was chewing on a stuffed animal that looked like a snake as he crawled in wearing his cute little blue t-shirt and diaper, he tore off his small blue socks and crawls around the room. Sky smiles. "Mom, is this the baby boy the Anubi adopted? He looks so cute!" Sky runs over to the baby and picks him up, the baby didn't cry, instead, he growled, he growled a lot. Sky's hedgehog ears and tail pop out at the same time the baby's (rather small) dog tail and ears pop out. Mira walks over and holds the baby instead, then the baby was instantly calm.

Mira looks at Sky, "Sky, this is Snicker, one of the newest members of the Anubi Clan. You'll be working with him in the future. So try to get along with him, okay?" Sky nods. Snicker dropped his toy and tries to reach for it, flipping himself upside down to try and grab it. Snicker squeaks a loud squeak, it sounded more like an angry tea kettle than a small baby, Mira tried to hold Snicker upright but he was doing everything he could to resist. Sky picks up the toy and hands it to Snicker and he hugs it tightly, goes upright, and looks at Sky quietly.

"Mommy, didn't you say they adopted more than one?" asked Sky.

"They did, this little tea kettle has a twin named Voir. And one older one named Teresa. I heard they aren't getting along with the biological child at all."

"They aren't getting along with Mack? That's not good" whispered Sky.

"Well he isn't used to siblings yet, remember, he was an only child all his life, he isn't used to sharing the attention but he will be better over time," whispered Mira.

An older girl with brown hair like Snickers and blue eyes walks in, her flowing yellow dress tails behind her. Snicker looks at Mira's pretty, long white sleeveless lace dress and tugs at it. Mira didn't notice as she looks at the girl who entered. "Let me guess, your Teresa and you heard Snickers kettle impression and came rushing over?" Mira asked. Teresa, the girl, nods as she holds Snicker, who tugged on Mira's dress so hard it tore revealing her breasts, and Teresa looks shocked.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry your majesty! I-I'll repay you if you want-" Teresa stuttered

"No no it's fine dearest, please don't worry about it," Mira said calmly. Sky levitates a blanket over Mira so her breast wasn't visible anymore as Snicker tries to move the blanket away from Mira.

"No no no you little pervert?!" Teresa said as she giggles and steps away from Mira. "I'm so sorry about my brother your majesty, he's always been like this for as long as I could remember, so you'll have to excuse him, and we're trying our best to teach him not to do that."

"Like I said it's fine!" said Mira while she tried to hold back laughter. Snicker pointed down and looked at Teresa.

Teresa shook her head, "Not if your gonna take away Mira's blanket," Snicker nodded no and drops his stuffed snake. "Fine. But don't go trying to take Mira's blanket you little perv." Teresa puts Snicker down and he crawls along the ground with his stuffed snake, THEN he takes Mira's blanket and looks at what he exposed. Sky giggled quietly as she watched Teresa and Snicker play tug of war with the blanket and Mira levitates a new long-sleeved long white dress onto herself.

"Teresa its okay, he probably likes the blanket, so he can keep it." said Mira, holding back her laughter. Teresa stops and Snicker wraps the blanket around himself and smiles. Teresa looks at Snicker concerned, then Mira gave Teresa the same concerned glance. "Is something troubling you?"

"Y-yeah, he never speaks. Never cries. Never laughs. He only smiles and does his angry squeak. However his sister Voir always laughs and cries and speaks, even when she's asleep. The doctors say that everything is fine with him but... but I'm not the only one who finds it concerning, right? I'm not the only one who finds it a issue that nobody has ever heard his voice before?" mumbled Teresa.

"He'll speak when the time is right. Don't worry about it." Mira commented. Sky looks at Snicker and he was curled up in a ball, blanket wrapped around him, asleep. He gently chews his stuffed snake in his sleep. Sky tugged gently on Teresa dress, Teresa looks at Sky and then at Snicker.

"Oh that little cutie can fall asleep anywhere! I'm sorry but I think its time that we leave, it was nice meeting you all" Teresa whispered. She picks up Snicker gently.

"Goodbye!" Sky said.

"Have a safe trip home." Mira said quietly as Teresa walks out the door holding a sleeping Snicker.
