Nik's POV
As soon as we arrive home, i open the door and we quickly rush inside with Max. We both knew the reporters were not going to take this lightly!
This was big news and they would stalk and hound us all day!
I instruct security to drive us inside our home and lock the gates and nobody should be let in without our express permission. It's going to be stressful going forward and all I could worry about at the moment is my husband.
Max is not used to this kind of uproar in his life and I don't want this to affect him negatively! I was used to this and could face this, but Max!
As soon as we get indoors, the first thing I do is grab Max and sit him down and sit next to him just to see how he is fairing.
He seems just abit shaken and not at all what I expected. But I still had to make sure he was prepared for all this. I do not want this for him.
"You're worried about me aren't you?" He asks laying his head on my laps and turning to look at me
"Yes, how're you holding up?" I say lightly running my hands over his hair
"I'm holding up well, the reporters shook me abit, i didn't know how vicious they could be, I'm not used to that" he says
"I'm so sorry, this is on me, and I can't even promise you right now that it will get better. The hounding will just get worse " I sigh
"Oh boy! Does this mean I may have to keep inside these four walls and lay low?" He asks wide eyed
"Something like that and also have twenty-four seven security Incase you step out, I'm really sorry , this might affect your work as well" I say apologizing to him
He twines our fingers together and looks up at me,
"I know who I married Nik, I know this comes with you I mean you being a huge business mogul and man-ho as well" he says
"Hey! " I protest as he laughs, "it's you i love now" I add
"I know and I love you too, seriously though, imagine how they used to hound you for being a man-ho this business stuff might be worse" he replies winking
"Come here" I say pulling him back up to look into his eyes
"What?" He says smiling cheekily
"I want us to enjoy tonight , it might be the only normal evening we have in a long time " I say kissing his lips
"Let's watch a movie then and just be Nik and Max tonight, no business mogul or veterinary doctor, just two married people inlove enjoying a chill evening " he whispers
"So Netflix and Chill " I say winking and just holding him tight
"Nope... strictly Netflix " he says
Hours later, we are sprawled on the couch and we've eating so much popcorn and soda and just had a good time. After the last movie, I look down and Max is fast asleep
I gently shake him awake so we can go to bed. After we both shower and change and get into bed, Max turns and looks at me and says
"What's going to happen next ? Don't lie to me"
"We have a final board meeting tomorrow and I'm going to stake everything and put it on the line just to get back Starlinksy Corporation" I say
"Everything? Everything you've worked so hard for since you were eighteen? He asks
"Yes but don't worry about it, I'll get it all back, I've lost before and built it all back " I say
He nods and just hugs me and puts his head on my chest.
Tomorrow would be the day of reckoning.
The next morning I'm up early and ready to go but as I find a note from Max saying he would join me later .
Where could he have gone? He wanted to come with me but I don't have time to ponder over all this right now as I have to be at the meeting early and prepared.
MAX'S POV
The first thing I did when woke up was jump into my car and head where I should have gone earlier!
Omg! How stupid can I be! Ofcourse grandfather has to be involved it in somehow! How else would a company try to get involved unless they had backing from a powerful business man like Harold!
Few people would ever go toe to toe with Nik! They knew better than to try. He would always win but for anyone to put him in this position! They need to have strong allies and who else would gladly screw over his grandson without worrying that by hurting Nik he was in extension hurting me?
Harold! The great and wealthy Harold!
I can't believe my grandfather would do this! The only family I have left trying to sabotage my husband's business!
Why was that old man always getting involved in our issues!
I can't let my grandfather screw my husband over not if I can help it!
As soon as I finish the drive and reach his doors work, I don't even bother knocking!
I go straight into his study and throw back his door open and there he is!
He's not even surprised to see me!
"Come in Max, I expected you" he says
"You know everything don't you? " I shout trying to hold in my anger
"Yes and I know what you want from me but it's happening on one condition " he says unfazed
"Out with it!" I say with gritted teeth
"You leave Nik and come back home!" He says
