Night was chased away by the morning star which smeared the sky with red and yellow. Gemma blinked her eyes open, they were still heavy with sleep. She tried getting up but head felt heavy and painful, a light throb made her lay in bed for a while. A few minutes later Zuri woke up and greeted Gemma, her friend replied with a moan.

"What's wrong G" Zuri asked climbing out of bed. Gemma groaned

"I think I have a headache Z" she replied in pain.

"Had too much fun yesterday huh?"

"Fuck you, I am serious" her voice was tired and raspy, she coughed

"Well, get well soon. You should probably take some meds and sleep, then see the results" Zuri suggested

"That's what they always say" she replied, she began breathing through her mouth noticing that her nose lacked in the breathing well department. "I HATE diseases" she added

"Hate them all you want but know this: The danger is what makes life worth living"

"And diseases are what make danger stop coming"

"You're in danger of dying Gemma."

"This sure is one boring danger" Gemma scoffed. Zuri rolled her eyes and simply said

"I'm going to get you some meds downstairs. If that doesn't work ... to the doctor."

Zuri opened the curtains to let the sunlight in, in reaction Gemma hissed and instantly covered herself in blankets. Gemma listened to Zuri  stroll out of the room before she let her own thoughts infuse with Zuri's own problems engulf her into the dark corner of her universe. A minute later Zuri returned with the medication and breakfast.

"Gemma, here I got you this"  Gemma unblanketed  herself to see Zuri look at her as if she had been slapped in the face. Below Gemma's eye where she had been cut was a dark vertical line slowly spreading from the line where she had been cut, like a tear

"Whats wrong?" Gemma asked

"Did you apply make-up?" Zuri questioned in concern

"No why say so?"

"There is a black line thingy under your one eye"

"Ill check it out later, probably a bruise"

"If you say so then ... " she set the tray she had been holding down and left.
