In the cradle of our ignorance, we slumbered,
Blind to the signs etched in the changing skies,
Traces of warning whispered in the winds,
Yet we chose to turn a deaf ear to nature's cries.
Mountains wept glaciers in silent sorrow,
Oceans roared with waves of discontent,
Forests whispered secrets of their demise,
But we carried on, indifferent and bent.
Now the flames of consequence burn fierce and bright,
Scorching our lands, devouring our might,
Rivers run dry, choked with pollution's blight,
The price of our neglect, a harrowing sight.
No longer can we turn back the hands of time,
The die is cast, the consequences climb,
We missed our chance to halt the changing clime,
Now we face the truth of our shortsighted crime.
