around the second month with the guys, she had finally decided to show them just a little taste of her kind of life.
which was why they were all piled into the bar she had made her religion. when Arjun heard they were going to a bar, he started reciting so many prayers. Iris had comforted him with the fact that on open mic nights, the bar was less of a club scene and more like a cool cafe.
now they were all piled around a table and each of them had a drink.
Arjun got a sprite
and they were listening to the dub poet on stage.
'this is so cool'
ju had nudged her and whispered.
she had watched the dimmed lights shimmer in his eyes.
'I knew you'd like it'
she said a smile tugging at her lips.
when it was close to the end and he had come onstage,
she was reminded that she hadn't been to the bar in almost a month,
but the familiar butterflies in her stomach were present.
she still vibrated with anticipation.
by that time, Dylan had been whisked away by some girls and after a quick glance she was comforted by the fact that he was enjoying himself.
Arjun and Wen had left a little earlier, Arjun had a scheduled Skype call with his parents and Wen was working on a program of some sort.
Mathis had went to get another drink at the bar,
'he's my favorite'
she had whispered when he begun tuning his guitar on stage.
she leant forward instinctively as the first few notes begun to play, and her eyes closed like clockwork at the sound of his voice.
she let the sad melody lull her senses and envelope her into the storyline of the lyrics.
when the last few notes ended she rocked back in her chair with a sigh.
she had missed this.
she glanced up at ju, suddenly remembering he was there.
she didn't miss the curious look he was giving her.
she hadn't meant for him to see all that,
she was glad the lights were still dimmed,
he couldn't see the blush creeping up on her cheeks.
'let's go find Mat and Dylan'
he said quickly turning away to make his way towards the bar.
leaving her thinking;
what was that about?
