Would You Lie With Me?

Warnings: none
I realized after writing this that it reminds me of Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. An accident, I assure you, but it's a good song anyway.

I hope you enjoy!

As I lay here
Buried in blanket-topped mountains
Swimming in a pool of darkness
Gazing out at a set of family silhouettes formed by the trees

As I lay here
Picking at lilac-painted fingernails
Humming an MGMT song
Repeating those same few notes over and over

As I lay here
Thinking of you
But regretting most of the memories
Knowing I could never make them reality

As I lay here
Naming the stars
And seeing the stories in their glimmer
Praying to a god I don't know that I might be up there too, one day

As I lay here
Speaking to ghosts of my past
Providing for the spirits of my future
And avoiding those of my present

As I lay here
Eyes wide open
Mind just the same
With a mouth that just can't comply

As I lay here
Exhaustion spilling through my body like a waterfall
Resistance beaming through my soul
An energy of radiating magnitude

As I lay here
Pondering the universe
Asking myself to care
Enough to just open the book and begin

As I lay here
Asking myself the same question
Asking over and over again
"Why can't you sleep?"

As I lay here
Coming to a conclusion
One which I must accept
That I was built for 4 am

As I lay here
Thinking of the next way
To fool you into believing
Trusting that I'm okay

As I lay here
Waiting for you to see through it all
So I can stop asking you
"Would you lie with me?"
