I got up the next morning when Jacob lifted my legs off his lap,

"Sorry, I need to get my stuff from home," he said,

"What's the time?" I slurred, feeling my eyes struggle as I looked at him.

"6:30," he said,

I briefly heard him say something before my eyes fell back shut.

I got up for the second time a little while later, when my neck started to hurt from the odd position it was forced into during the night.

I lifted my head off the hand of the couch, sitting up, and slowly waking up.

I rubbed my eyes, looking around to see that everyone other than Scarlett had left. She was sprawled across the other arm of the couch, her mouth wide open and drooling onto her arm.

I let out a small laugh, and shook her shoulder, "Scarlett, wake up,"

"Mnm," she mumbled, moving her head away.

After struggling for exactly 17 minutes, I managed to wake her up, and went into to my room to shower.

I put on a graphic tee with my jeans, tied my long brown hair in a sloppy bun, and held me suitcase next to me as I stood in front of the mirror. I was really doing this, I was really going back to that hell hole.

I sighed, and walked out of my room, closing the door behind me.

I really hated staying in the dorms, but my mother insisted very much that I stay in the dorms, so I guess I didn't have much of a choice
I wasn't capable of living alone anyway, I didn't know the first thing about cooking.

I went down stairs and waited for Scarlett as she did hair.

"Jones, I'm ready," she called, as I slouched on the couch, scrolling through my phone aimlessly.

We headed out the door, and began driving to school.

"I know you don't want to go back, but...at least we get to be roommates this year!" Scarlett chirped enthusiastically.

"Yeah yeah, how do you think I'm here driving to school early on the first day." I said, and she chuckled.

The drive was extremely fast, or at least I felt that way considering how much I was dreading going back there.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked, moments after I pulled over in the parking lot.

"Yeah," I sighed.

The last time I was here, I was...well....different to say the least.

I don't know why I was so nervous to go back, but it was fascinating that Scarlet could tell. She was really good at that...you know? Being a good friend... Certainly better than me, but I guess I was working on that.

I got out of the car, slamming the door behind me.

Classes started today at 10:30 instead of 8, giving us time to settle or whatever.

Pulling my suitcase behind me, I walked through the familiar campus, feeling uneasy as I recognized the buildings and walls around me.

The school was crowded with parents dropping their kids off, and students meeting each other after the seemingly long summer break, for me though, it felt like it couldn't have been more than a few weeks.

We made our way to the dorms as I tried my very best to avoid making eye contact with anyone I recognized, inevitably meeting a few people that Scarlett knew.

I walked straight to the room, while Scarlet stopped on the way talking to people she hadn't seen over the summer.

I turned the key in the lock, pushing the door wide as it creaked open.
