The men talked through dinner. Although there was a fire roaring right in front of them, they ate the meat raw. She didn't want to suggest roasting the meat because she had already changed enough of their culture. It was because of her that they wore loincloths, and she didn't want to demand more of them.

Vrox glanced at her ever so often. She gave him a reassuring smile every time and then continued to digest her thoughts.

Prince of Ezron.

He didn't even seem cocky about his title. He shrugged it off as if meant nothing. For her, it meant much. Vrox and the rest of these men were destined for great things. They wouldn't spend the rest of their days holed up in their camp. Ezron had a future now that she and Nebula would repopulate it, and the future would need leaders.

She wondered if Vrox had thought this far ahead; if he was planning on returning to The Ruins and restore it to its former self.

"It looks like the rain is returning," Rokan groaned with a wipe to his wet brow.

"We should get going," Vrox decided. "I will take the first watch tonight."

"I will take second," Kyros offered.

"Is everything okay?" Kira asked, worried by the men having to guard.

"This is a precaution in case anyone saw us walking to camp. Do not worry, female. It is not a likely possibility."

She nodded and rose to her feet. "Do you want me to stay with you?"

"No. You must rest so that your injury finishes healing."

"But–"

He finished the conversation by sweeping her off her feet, keeping his gaze forward even as she complained and wiggled in his arms.

He gently placed her on the bed and bid his goodbye by sniffing her hair. She often found him doing this. While it would have freaked her out if some guy from Earth sniffed her hair, she didn't mind Vrox. He was too endearingly adorable.

"Sleep well, female."

"Okay. Be safe!"

She watched him pick up the cloth he had used to wipe her skin free of his cum. He tossed her a blazing look that warmed her cheeks better than the campfire. Then, he was off.

With a blissful sigh, she sank into his enormous bed. As soon as she realized that she was sitting next to the wall decorated with pointy, bloodthirsty weapons, she scooted to the other side of the bed.

Her face nuzzled into the soft furs. They smelled clean, not like the flowery laundry detergent she used at home, but a natural, earthy scent. With the imagination of Vrox lying beside her, she fell asleep.

Vrox watched Kyros' silhouette approach. He could tell that it was Kyros because he was humming a low tune. Even the dead of night couldn't mute Kyros' brightness.

"Get some rest," Kyros said from the bottom of the ladder.

Vrox threw himself off, landing swiftly.

"See you in the morning, brother."

Kyros gave him a sharp nod and then began to climb the ladder.

Their small moon was up above, pathetic as usual. He wondered if Kira could see at all in this darkness. Since his eyes were adaptive, he wasn't bothered by the lack of light. He could navigate just fine through their camp.
