a quiet little place and have a drink or two,
but then I go and spoil it all by
saying something stupid like 'I love you.'❞

CAROLINE'S EYES FLICKED around the dining hall in search for a place to sit. Despite this being her second day at the school, she had never actually eaten a meal in the dining hall, for she had spent the time wandering around the school and living off of the snacks she snuck into her room. She was now faced with the predicament of not knowing where to sit.

All of the school cliques and groups had formed already, and they sat at their own tables together—well, as cliquey that a school of all boys could get. There were the athletic people or the jocks, there were the "nerds," and more. It was fairly easy to tell who was cool and who would make you a social outcast if you sat with them, but Caroline was still nervous about it. One wrong step and she could kiss her Welton reputation goodbye. Not that she cared, but she knew her father certainly did.

Finally, her gaze settled on the table that Charlie, Knox, Meeks, Cameron, Todd, and Pitts were located at. She walked over to them, tray in hand and came to a stop at the end of the table. "Mind if I sit?" she questioned shyly, and they all looked up at her.
