Chapter 9, People Watching
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I do not own any part of the song 'People Watching' by Conan Gray, all rights go to Conan Gray and his management.
I am only using his song for this purpose of this chapter, once again, I do not own this song nor did I play any part in it.
" I wanna play baseball again. "
~ Scarlett POV ~
I was awoken by shuffling sounds, I sat up and smiled.
I was still outside with Cora and Layla, I grabbed my notebook and went inside of my house.
I decided that I wanted to sing the new song I've written overnight, my dad was off early at the baseball practice.
I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair, I grabbed my mini piano and ran downstairs from my room.
I haven't written a song for months, I sat in the living room and started playing the melody that I heard in my daydream.
I decided last minute to play in the dining room, I took a deep breath and began to play the melody again.
I flipped my page and found the lyrics, I sighed and began to sing.
"That wasn't funny but she laughed so hard, she almost cried. They're counting months they've been together almost forty-nine."
My voice was soft, it reminded my dad of my mother since she was always able to sing.
It was how I was always able to sleep, the verses are what I've personally seen and I wanted to experience it.
"He's making fun of how she acted around the holidays, she wears a ring, but they tell people that they're not engaged."
My voice was low and soft once more, I wanted to keep it like that until it was time for me to raise it an octave.
"They met in class for metaphysical philosophy, he tells his friends 'I like her cause she's so much smarter than me.' "
I've experienced this part, back in middle school I had a puppy love relationship and he truly loved my intelligence.
"They're having talks about their futures until 4AM and I'm happy for them."
I took a deep breath and looked through my lyrics, I was so in my head that I hadn't heard anyone walk in.
"But I wanna feel all the love and emotion, be that attached to the person in holding. Someday I'll be falling, without caution. But for now, I'm only people watching."
I raised my voice and sang louder, I took advantage of the empty house.
The echo gave me confidence, I only assumed that it was what made me sing louder.
Normally I would be too embarrassed to sing even if I was alone but it's crazy what a boy could do to you, I smiled to myself at the fact his face was engraved in my head.
"I'm only looking just to live through you vicariously I've never been in love, not seriously. I had a dream about a house behind a picket fence."
I continue on with the second verse, I truly did watch as people lived the life I wanted.
My heart began to race as I continued playing the piano.
"Next one I choose to trust, I hope I use some common sense. But I cut people out like tags on my clothing I end up all alone, but I still keep hoping."
I couldn't even remember how I came up with these lyrics, I just didn't bother stopping or erasing it.
This new song I've created.
"I wanna feel all that love and emotion be that attached to the person I'm holding, someday I'll be falling, without caution. But for now, I'm only people watching."
There was a second voice, it was an octave lower.
I looked behind me and smiled when it was my dad, he came next to me and we sang the song together.
I closed my notebook and hugged him tightly.
" I wanna play baseball again. "
I finally said as we let go of each other, he looked at me with a wide smile and hugged me again.
He let go and I ran upstairs to change into some clothes, I wanted to show the song off to my friends.
This song made me feel different, I saw something different in Jaden when I sang this song.
