a well known trait is eye contact. We might not look at you in the eye. We might look at you occasionally. Or we might try and hold it.
It might come out more with stronger emotions. Frustration, Guilt, Anxiety Worried and so on. Or you are hot and you are making me blush!!!.
I have noticed we can hold eye contact with each other. And that can be related to love(in my experience). Or its your character thinking that the other one is really hot.
So you should mention it a bit in your writing. Mention that they look towards someone and then looks somewhere else. Or they talk to to the other character, then looks towards them holds eye contact for a moment but still looks at them.
Not giving eye contact does not mean we are not listening to people. We could be process the information you are telling us.
