Isabelle's POV

"I remember reading about Ereshkigal in my mythology classes. Isn't she the goddess of Kur? The Mesopotamian underworld?"

My mother seemed impressed that I knew who she was. "That's right. She is the goddess pf Kur. She is also the biggest pain in my as..."

"Mother!" I interrupted.

"What? She is!"

"I believe you, but what if she is listening to you? She could try to make it so Dad can never come back and see us."

"She already has. She took away his powers to get to this world," my mother whimpered. I hugged her close to me, which is when Demetrius let go of my hand. Just then, there was a knock on the front door. Mom and I separate from our hug and look at each other, questioning each other.

She stands up, and goes to answer the door. Demetrius moves next to me again and hugs me close to him again. I heard her gasp. Demetrius and I run to the door just in time to see her jump into a mans arms.

I look to Demetrius and see him smell the air before his face seems to soften. He looks to me and smiles. I give a questioning look as he pushes me towards my mother and the strange man. I look at my mother and clear my throat, interrupting my mothers staring contest with the man.

"Oh! Isabelle, this is your father, Ninazu," she says to me before turning back to the man, my father. "I can't believe that you're here. What about Ereshkigal? Isn't she going to be mad that you aren't with Ninigirida?"

"I couldn't be away from you any longer. 16 years was far too long to begin with, and I do not care what she tries to do, I am not going to leave your side ever again," Ninazu says.
