i read this one fanfic where the girl and newt kissed THE SAME DAY SHE CAME INTO THE GLADE AND I WAS SHOCKED
you gotta pace it right and have their relationship progress nicely not just make them kiss after introducing themselves like boom shakalaka
that's not how romance works!!! (unless it's romeo and juliet) (which it isn't)
in my opinion, a good time to have ~*The Romance*~ is after you have shown them genuinely caring for one another and going through the stages of friendship. show that they trust each other!! show that they like each other!! drop hints!! clues!!
and then you can have ~*The Romance*~
another thing about relationships is sometimes you can tell when the whole plot is based on one because the book kind of repeats itself after they get together and then it's boring. make sure you don't do that! the relationship should be the second or third or even fourth focal point of the story, not front and center.
also don't make them kiss in every chapter because that's annoying. have them do other stuff like pillow fights or cuddling or human sacrifices
