164th Poem: My Color

If you don't see color

you don't see me.

How can you?

Why would you think that

those words would

make me feel any better?

People ridicule me,

beat me,

hate me

because of my skin,

my beauty,

my heartache,

my hardships; I'm wearing thin,

and you say

you don't see it?

You don't see my struggle if you say that,

you don't see my beauty,

my pain,

my tanness,

my coily hair,

my lips,

my hips,

my blood stains.

You don't see.

How's your vision 20-20 but you see less than me?
