I'm woken at 0800 hours sharp by the incessant message notifications pouring in from someone who doesn't understand common courtesy. I roll over and glance at my holo screen. Graff.

Ding!

What do you mean?

Ding!

I don't understand!

Ding!

How did this happen?

Ding!

Do you have his exact location?

Ding!

Can you get his exact location?

Ding!

What're we going to tell the public?

Ding!

Answer me!!!

I sigh and turn off the notification sounds.

"Who dat?" Petra mumbles.

"Graff," I respond curtly.

"Oh shit."

"Exactly."

You know exactly what this means Colonel. Some egotistical schmuck got himself in some hot water. Go get him.

"What did Graff say? Do we have to go back early?" Petra asks, her thoughts starting to organize themselves as she gets up.

"No," I respond calmly. "Not yet. Let's turn on the news, shall we?" I hop cheerily out of bed and walk over to the wall screen, turning it on and flipping to the IF's main news channel.

"Today it looks like the weather will be a pleasant twenty-six to twenty-seven degrees Celsius with a blue skies and..." Bluck.

I walk into the bathroom to wash my face, brush my teeth and change. Since I have my suit I just flip its setting to an everyday outfit. The inky blackness and holsters fade into transparency and a circular black skirt and a pale pink blouse appear with patent pumps to match. Satisfied, I walk back out to grab some makeup.

"...Admiral Chamrajnagar received news last night from an unlisted IF agent that the attempt made on the lives of our Command School candidates was carried out by several soldiers from Russia, masquerading as the fanatic terrorist group Pour la Sauver. All students remain unharmed, however the Polemarch and the IF say that serious consequences await for these egotistical young men. Stay tuned to-"

I cut the news anchor off by shutting down the screen.

"Oh my God." Petra absently mutters. I walk over to my nightstand and grab several small makeup items. Cryostasis works on makeup right?

"Oh my God," Petra mumbles again as I delicately swipe some inky black mascara on my eyelashes. And eyelid. Damn this stuff is goopy...

"Is that what you were doing last night?" C'mon you idiot eyebrows! Stay put!

"Kayleigh?" C'mon soldier, straight line...

"Kayleigh, are you listening?" Dammit! How'd the mascara get on my chin?

"Kayleigh!" Petra yells and I come to.

"Sorry," I grin sheepishly, "makeup coma." Petra rolls her eyes.

"Is that what you were doing last night?"

"Makeup? Absolutely not."

"No, dumbass! Are you the agent that found out and told Admiral Chamrajnagar who came after us at Command?"
