We finally make it to the town we're playing in. That bus ride seemed to take even longer than the rest.

I carry in Buddy and I's bags, much to his dismay. ("But Vi, I'm supposed to carry those!" "Shut it, Holley, you fucked your arm." "...fair.")

I set down the bags and sigh. "Okay, let me see your arm."

Buddy peels off Ritchie's old coat and winces.

I walk over and turn his arm so I can see more clearly. "Jeez, honey. You really did a number on yourself."

"I dunno what even happened, Vi. I really don't. I was just sittin', moved my arm, and got cut apparently."

"Well," I try to see through some of the caked blood. You can only clean off so much blood with cotton balls. "It doesn't look infected, atleast. I think as long as we keep cleaning it, it'll be fine."

"I'm real grateful for you, doll." He smiles. "I'm sorry about the blood."

I laugh and shake my head. "I don't mind, really. I mean, we regularly swap spit. It's not the first time I've had your fluids on me."

"More than just spit," he jokes and wiggles his eyebrows.

We both laugh.

"Shut up, you're right." I playfully shove him. "No one needs to know that."

"Yeah, we haven't even comsumated this marriage yet."

I nod. "Of course not, we're pure in the eyes of God, yeah?"

"Of course. Especially you. Faintin' in church made Him real proud."

"Oh fuck, I forgot about that! That was so embarassing!"

Why is the incense so strong? Why is it so got in here? Why am I feeling so light headed? Am I going to fai-

I slowly wake up to Buddy, Ella and Larry fanning me and flicking cold water on my face.

"Vi? Vi can ya hear me?" Buddy asks, putting his hand on my forehead.

"Wha-?" I manage to get out.

"You passed out, sweetie. Are you okay?" Ella cooes.

I close my eyes again and try to ignore the pounding in my head. "I'm so sorry."

"About what?" Larry asks.

"Church, pass out, my head hurts."

"Hey, it's okay, Violet. It's just Patty's wedding REHEARSAL. No harm done. I was gettin' light headed, too, darlin'." Ella props my head up and puts her cardigan under it. "Really, no biggie."

"The incense is real strong, doll. I understand. Plus it's real hot." Buddy puts a cool rag on my forehead. "I feel fine, probably 'cause I've been around this since I was a kid."

"I ruined it, I ruined the rehersal." I frown.

"No, no, sweetie you sure didn't! You slumped over and we discreetly carried you out. No one batted an eye. It's not like you were a big part a the weddin', no one noticed." Ella grabs my hand. "No big deal."

"I still feel terrible," I sigh. "I'm sorry."

"It'll all be okay, Violet, really. Just don't pass out at yours and Buddy's rehersal or weddin'." Larry jokes. Under the joking, I can tell there's a hint of truth.
