Georgie clasped Vincent's hand as they walked down the cobblestone path. Soon, the leaves would be turning brown as fall peeked through the last vestiges of summer, but Georgie wouldn't be here to see it.

No.

Soon, she would be home.

With Vincent.

The tree where Nicholas was buried came into view. Its limbs reached towards the sky and spread out like an embrace over the grave. Even though the bark was cragged and cracked, the tree would stand for centuries more. Limitless, but not.

It seemed ages had past while she and Vincent had healed, but then again, almost as if none had passed at all. Time was relative, and they had missed so much of it before that she wasn't wasting any moments now.

Their wedding had been a rather quiet affair. Vincent's mother and twin sisters had been there. Lady Marianne and Greyson and Charlie. The Duke of Burkeley had even dropped in, though his eyes looked bloodshot and he had left early.

Sophie had been the only person missing in their party.

But Georgie had been consumed with Vincent and had barely noticed anything but him. Georgie wouldn't have had it any other way. This morning, however, Vincent had begged to come here.

To meet his son.

"Is this him?"

They came to a stop beneath the tree, and Georgie squeezed Vincent's hand in comfort and reassurance. She unlaced their hands and kneeled down in the grass, uncaring that dirt stains would marr the fabric of her gown.

Vincent followed. He took up her hand again, kissing the back of it, and placing their joined hands in Georgie's lap. Reaching out, Vincent traced the name of his son on the stone. "I am sorry I couldn't meet you before, and I hope you'll forgive me for it."

His voice cracked, and Georgie watched as Vincent fought back his tears, his hand stopping on the "h" of Nicholas. Head bowed, he breathed out a slow breath. When he looked up, Vincent met her gaze. His eyes looked more hazel than brown and shone with flecks of gold. "But I'm here now."

How much she loved this man.

Vincent had been resting on his haunches, but after those heartfelt words, his body sank fully on the ground.

He spoke.

He told tales of Georgie and Greyson and him when they were younger. How he had thought Georgie to be the most beautiful woman in England. How similar his twin sisters were and yet how different. His plans for the future.

Georgie listened, thanking fate for every little blessing she had been gifted. One, in particular, that she would be sharing with Vincent.

Today.

They left hours later, arms interlinked, and Georgie couldn't stop her grin.

"What is it?" Vincent murmured. His tall frame shadowed Georgie from the brisk wind that nipped at her cheeks.

Georgie closed her eyes, lifting her face towards the sky, as her hand settled low on her belly where even now, their child was growing.

Opening her eyes, Georgie turned to Vincent. She placed his hand low on her still flat belly and waited with bated breath as knowledge slowly stole over him. She watched as shock and disbelief and awe filled his face. Then Vincent's arms wrapped around her waist and she flew, circling and giggling with happiness.

She finally had everything she had ever wanted. The man she would love eternally. And their family united.

At last.
