'why am i here?' Rengoku wondered as he opened his eyes, noticing he was in his childhood house — also in his fathers room — 'right. To report to my father about becoming a Hashira.' Rengoku remembered as his hand accidentally touched his sword.

As Rengoku explained to his fathers on how he became a Hashira and how he made friends along the way, the old man simply looked at his book.

As soon as Rengoku stopped talking his father spoke up. "so what if you've become a Hashira?" Rengoku stared at his father, watching him place his book on the floor and than put his elbow against the pillow and lift his hand up, resting the side of his face on his palm and then close his eyes.

"worthless. It means nothing." Rengoku's smile fell at his fathers words. "you'll still never amount to anything. Neither you, nor i."

After that Rengoku excused himself and left the room. He walked down the hall and saw his little brother Senjuro peaking behind the sliding door. His face lighting up when he said his big brother. "brother!" Senjuro walked over to him, standing a few feet away to give him some space. "did your news make father happy? i hope when i become a Hashira, that father will acknowledge me as well."
