i'm not even kidding when i saw ALL. DAY. i woke up at 3am (running two hours of sleep 🤞☺️) and got to my destination around midnight
also the time zones were messed up and i had no internet so i kinda abandoned u guys 😇😇😇❤️

bin's talking to her uncle dave when micheal comes up to her for the first time. he doesn't say anything to announce himself. but his presence is so intimidating that she could just tell he was standing behind her.

bin says a quick farewell to uncle dave before turning around to give micheal her full attention.

"i don't think we've properly met yet, have we?" he asks with a warm smile, revealing the wrinkles that are in the corners of his eyes. "i'm micheal. you can call me mike."

"robin." bin says.

micheal immediately notices that she says her full name rather than her nickname. he knows everyone calls her 'bin' because that's how her mom refers to her. he was hoping she would introducer herself as bin because it would show that she's comfortable. but she clearly isn't. there's still a thick wall she's holding up between them.

"i don't want you to think i'm trying to make myself your father, wayne." micheal says. "because i'm not him. i didn't raise you so i'm not expecting you to treat me like i did. if you never want to warm up to me, i'll understand."

"don't try to guilt trip me into a father-daughter relationship." bin snaps.

she knows she shouldn't get so angry. he's trying to be understanding. but something about the way he's mentioning her father despite the fact that he's never met him pisses her off beyond belief. this random man can't wiggle into her life and pretend to be a parent that he isn't.

"i'm not guilt tripping anyone." micheal says gently. "i'm trying to explain that i want to do the exact opposite of make you pity me."

"if you want to put on a show, i'll gladly do so. i can pretend like we're best friends and we get along perfectly if you'd like." bin says. she notices that his eyes light up at the mention of a false happy life — which shows that he does want to pretend. he doesn't even care if it's fake. he just wants to appear perfect. "if you want me to do that, keep my dad's name out of your fucking mouth."

"deal." micheal says, shaking her hand as though they just signed off on a big company agreement. "now laugh like i said something funny."

bin does as he says, forcing out a laugh while he talks about something completely random. she glances around the room to make sure people believe that their little act is real. and they do. a couple family members point in their direction, talking about how cute it is that they get along.

but then she makes eye contact with matt, who's sitting at the bar staring at her.

the contact makes her chest feel heavy, but she just shakes it off and returns her gaze toward micheal and continues to pretend to laugh at him.
