If the consistent beeping of the heart monitor hadn't woken Aria up, then the bright-ass ceiling lights would have eventually. She tested her fingers and toes before she opened her eyes, wanted to feel any damage before looking at her broken body. Thankfully, everything seemed to be in working order, to which she sent a prayer of thanks to the sun god. One after the other, she peeked open her eyes, wincing at the light that greeted her.

It took some time to adjust to the brightness, but after a while, she could actually keep her eyes open without tearing up. Glancing from right to left, Aria noted the quaintness of the hospital room in which she resided. It had a large window to the left of her, which allowed a golden light to be filtered through sheer white curtains. Below said window was a small, dark brown wooden table that had a vase with a bouquet of sunflowers in it. Aria smiled a little bit at the sight before she continued surveying her surroundings. Her bed sat against the middle of the wall behind her, and to the right of her were two chairs that were slightly pushed away, as if someone had recently sat in them and then left. The walls were a light blue color that made Aria wonder if this was even an actual hospital.

Aren't there supposed to be pale walls, no personality, and no joy in these rooms?

Releasing a large breath, Aria finally took a chance to let her body relax from the tense anxiety it had been filled with in the previous days. She began pondering over the events that had transpired when she was still conscious.

Okay. So, I guess that guy Camden didn't die, she thought, glad to be alive and to have not died by boiling blood. That would have been incredibly inconvenient.

That guy - her mate - was strange. First of all, Aria had never met a blind werewolf - let alone a blind alpha - in her life. She was all for new experiences, but never could she have guessed that that new experience would come in the form of her soulmate. Nevertheless, she had trust in Helios' plans, so she wouldn't go running for the hills.

Then again, her brain had yet to register the fact that Camden was, in fact, her mate.

Perhaps it was because she was unable to make eye contact with him (the usual way of recognizing a soul mate). Maybe it was due to the large amount of blood that had been blocking her sense of smell that she couldn't sense him. Visually, he was incredibly attractive. Never in her life had Aria been so awe-struck at how physically good-looking someone could be. He was taller than she was - though not by much - and had broad shoulders. His dark hair hung past his ears and slightly covered his eyes. His forearms and hands were defined and to top it all off the man had a dazzling smile.

Damn.

However, despite how much Aria appreciated the look of her mate, she wanted to smell and see him when she wasn't half-delirious from exhaustion.

I would love to actually feel the fucking mate bond, she thought in disappointment.

Aria was pulled from her thoughts by the sound of the door opening. She looked towards the corner of the room as a woman in a white coat walked in with a clipboard, not looking up and walking straight towards the whiteboard on the opposite wall from where Aria sat. Aria observed the doctor for a moment, observing the way the many braids in her hair were loosely held up by a rubber-band. Her fingernails were well-trimmed, and her posture was tall and sturdy. Aria realized that the doctor still hadn't acknowledged her presence and thus elected to say something to get her attention.

"Uh..."

The woman dropped her pen as she jumped from Aria's voice. "Holy shit," she yelped, spinning around with a hand placed over her heart as she stared at Aria with wide eyes.
