'own the strength in your softness'

You tend to savor the moments and miss the memories when you know they won't last forever and the time you have left is very less.

The summer of Chavi's eleventh shall never come again, she knew that, and despite how annoying her friends were, she loved them with all her heart. She will miss Devlina and the soft heart she hid behind her poker face and technical words, she will miss Vijay for his dry humor and the tenderness with which he looked after everyone, she will miss Jay for his short remarks and wholehearted kindness but mostly she will miss herself, the Chavi that they brought out from her.

All these moments were slipping past her fingers and she had to hold onto them even if by a little because as soon as she started forgetting how their voice sounded and what made them topple over their benches, she would soon forget the side of her that brought that side of them as well.

A laugh broke out in the class, moments before a teacher bustled into their class and ended it all. The thrill only added to their joy and they chortled a little more.

All the eyes were turned toward the two boys in front of the blackboard. Apparently, they were doing a challenge on who was taller between Ashok and Vijay as they ran the aisle between the rows of benches and jumped to put the post-it note above the blackboard because Devlina had dared them to.

Chavi had shaken her head and gone back to eavesdropping on Meena's and Lavanya's gossip about the latest rumor in their school.

They had occupied the last bench of the corner row, just a bench apart, thinking they were very professional and discreet about it which they were very much not, with their snickers and loud whispers.

She could bet she heard her name once or twice after they had turned to stalking people on the net, Chavi was tempted to join in their guilty pleasure when the laughter that broke out took her attention, if not that, the hand slamming on the middle of back repeatedly sure did, it was Devlina.

social distancing was a foreign topic to this girl

She looked at the commotion happening at the front, Ashok who was visibly taller one between the two had knocked himself on literal air and put the post-it note a lot lower than Vijay and now they were both fighting, not the actual fighting with fists and bumps but more like a variation of Tom & Jerry.

chaotic and funny

Chavi laughed heartily, as her laugh mingled in with the other amused sounds but soon the sky gurgled its bellowing note, and even bigger droplets seemed to fall on the sunburnt grasses and drowned them in, the Games period was canceled for sure.
