Green with envy,
When you saw me thriving.
Green with envy,
When you saw the swirls in my wings.
Green with envy,
When the cards were in my hands,
Green with envy,
When my name was written in the sand.
Green with envy,
When I took the high road.
Green with envy,
Of how well I glowed.
But then…
You turned the tables,
Like it was a house of cards.
You gave me all the wrong labels,
Getting them off was so hard.
And now I'm all the things,
That you'd never envy.
And all my heart sings,
That you'll always be green with envy.
Who won the battle in the end?
Because the pleasure of evil always wears off,
And by then, you will have not a single friend,
To cheer and toast and scoff,
All while being green with envy.
