(Y/n) POV
I sat on the floor of the submarine playing slapjack with Penguin and Shachi, we were laughing and at any random thoughts we spoke out loud.
This wasn't out of the ordinary though, we usually did this to pass the time, since the ship didn't need any current repairs or any cleaning. "Hey, guys... Can I ask you something?" I asked curiously
"Yeah, of course." Penguin said casually
"What's up?" Shachi asked
"I know I'm not an official member of the crew and all, and I really shouldn't be prying into things I don't really belong in, but do you think you could teach me how to fix parts of the sub the next time they break?" I asked
Penguin and Shachi both looked at each other in astonishment, almost like they didn't understand the words that spilled out from my mouth. When they looked back at me the both exclaimed loudly "ABSOLUTELY!!!"
I was taken back by their sudden enthusiasm towards my question, but I felt apart of something, even if I never truly agreed to it. After Penguin won, I let him soak in the win of slapjack. I walked down the halls of the submarine until I got to Law's room, the door was open, but I didn't want to just intrude. He was faced the opposite way, as he was slaving over his desk, while writing things down. I raised my hand to knock only for him to speak.
"What is it?" He asked sounding rather annoyed
"Sorry.." I apologized instinctively
He paused for a moment, then turned to look at me as if I had just said I was going to be taking his place. "Why are you apologizing?" He asked
"I didn't mean to annoy you... Uh-- anyway, do you--"
"Have you made up your mind yet?" He asked cutting me off
"Uh-- what?" I questioned
"Have you decided whether or not you'll be joining my crew? Because if not, I suggest getting off at the next island. We have things to do there, so you'll have a little bit before we leave." He said sternly
My heart was pounding like a drum, I didn't understand if it was because it was actually working or if some caveman decided he wanted to damage it. I felt a stinging pain in my chest as the weight of the room got heavy. My mouth went dry, as I felt his intense gaze hallow my soul out of it's encased home. "I don't know.." I spoke softly, afraid that if I said 'no' he'd throw me out now.
"Best make up your mind.. You have 2 days until we completely leave you.. Land is about another hour away." He said
"Yes, sir." I spoke calmly, trying to keep everything at bay.
'I've never been so afraid before.. I'm it afraid of anyone. Usually when I feel threatened, I teach them that I'm in charge; however, my situation here is different than most.' I thought to myself as felt myself sweating
"What are you here for?" He asked curiously
"Oh-- uh--.. Actually I came here to see if you have any work for me to do.. The chores are done, everything is fixed on board, and I kinda got bored hanging out with Penguin and Shachi... I figured if anyone knew what needed to be done on the ship, it would be you..." I said softly
"Nothing to do.. Go hangout with the others." Law stated
"Do you even want me on the crew?" I questioned
"I don't care what you do, but I'm not carrying you around if you're not pulling your own weight first. Make up your mind." He said sounding more irritated
"I can see you don't care. If you didn't care from the start, then why bother saving me... Twice!" I asked
"Because I made a promise as a doctor to help anyone in need of help. You don't know how to keep yourself on your own 2 feet! I'm not carrying some child on my ship." He growled
