Kie said" They're a bunch of fancy people. They've had three governors in the family. They've run Charleston for, like, 300 years."
JJ said" These kooks make our kooks look like pogues." We pulled up to the place, looking at it," You sure this is the place, Pope?"
Pope said" Pretty sure."
" All right." We got out," Fat city, for sure."
" 27 King Street."
" Talk about home security. Are those spikes to keep people out?"
Kie said" No."
Pope said" The slave quarters are over there. These spikes were to keep people in."

Pope used the knocker,
Pope said" You think that was too much?"
JJ said" It echoed the entire house. That's for sure. So they definitely heard it."
Kie said" Maybe nobody's home." Pope knocked again, and the door opened as he did. A man looked at us, then pointed to Pope,
A man said" You must be Pope."
Pope said" Um... Are you Mr. Limbrey?"
" Ms. Limbrey was expecting you yesterday."
" Oh. I'm... I'm sorry my car broke down on the way up here."
JJ said" Carburetor blew up in the middle of Nowheresville. Sorry about that."
The man said" Yeah, she was, uh, real
upset when you didn't show up."
Kie said" We tried to call, but there's no number on the invitation. We got here as fast as we could."
" She also expected you to come alone."
Pope said" I mean, these are my friends. They helped find the Royal Merchant too."
" The instructions were explicit. Your friends can stay outside."
JJ said" We're kind of a package deal, man."
Pope said" JJ. It's okay. I got this. I'll be good."
Kie said" Yeah. We'll be right here."
" Keep the car running."
" Yep." Pope walked in, the man closed the door behind them.
I said" Well... that's not sus, like at all." I gulped,
" Come on." She grabbed my hand, we headed back to the truck.

Kie said" Look, if Limbrey is legit, then Ward gets arrested and maybe Sarah gets the gold." I saw Pope being led out of the house," Does that look voluntary?"
JJ said" That would be a negative."
" Come on." JJ stopped her from getting out of the truck,
" Wait, hold on, hold on."
" What?"
" They're going into the alley."
" Go around back?"
" Yeah. We'll meet them on the other side." JJ started driving,
" Okay. Hey, be chill. Be chill."
" Yeah, sure."

Kie said" Where did they go?"
JJ said" What if they went underground? Because in CHUD, when they took people down into the sewers, it would turn the humans into humanoids 'cause of the radiation. And then all of a sudden-"
" JJ, JJ. Focus. That doesn't make any sense."
" Right. Sorry. Did you see him?"
" No."

JJ and I ran up to Pope and the guy fighting, JJ kicked the taser away.
Kie said" Come on!"
JJ said" Pope! Pope, come on!"
" Come on!" Pope punched him,
" Go! Just leave him! Leave him!" We jumped the wall, running to where the truck was." Go! Go, go, go!" We all jumped in," Scoot over!"
" Ow! Who were those people?"
" We're getting the hell out of here."
Pope said" That was crazy as shit. Let's get out of here." JJ took off,
" Here we go, now!"
I said" I think he's following us!"
Pope said" This is a one-way."
Kie said" Go left."
" Go that way."
Kie, Pope and I said" This is a one-way!"
Kie said" They're following us!"
Pope said" Hey! There's another car! Turn now! Turn! Turn right!" JJ screeched right at the last second, and nearly ran over some people." Those were people! Jesus Christ!"
JJ said" That was evasive driving technique right there, ya'll."
" Where we going?"
" Hang on, I'll lose him."
Kie said" JJ!"
Pope said" Dude!"
I said" JJ!" He turned and the engine hissed,
JJ said" You said he fixed the carburetor."
" You said he fixed it!"
Kie said" No, no, no!"
Pope said" He did!"
" Shit! Damn it! Okay, what now, Mario?" We got out,
JJ said" Number one rule. Never trust mechanics!" We grabbed our bags," We gotta go around!" The car pulled up,
" Go!"
Pope said" Come on!"
JJ said" Go, go, go, go, go!" We took off running,
Kie said" Guys, I think he has a gun!"
" Shit, get down!"
Pope said" Come on, Kie!"
Kie said" Go, go, go! Go!"
JJ said" Get to the alleyway. Come on!"
I said" Let's go! Come on!"
Pope said" I think I'm cramping."
Kie said" Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go!"
JJ said" This way! This way! We might have to split up. I don't know where to go, okay? We gotta lose him!" He ran into a package guy," Whoa! Jesus! Shit!"
" Watch out!"
Kie and Pope said" Sorry!"
JJ said" Sorry about that! Right here!" We turned into another alley," Here, here, here!"
Kie said" Okay!"
" He's right there. Go, go, go!"
Pope said" Go! He's gaining! Let's go!"
JJ said" I am going, Pope. I know, I know. You guys gotta keep up." We ran out of the alley and stopped, I saw John B and Sarah, I smiled.
John B said" Get in! Get in! Get in! Come on!" Kie jumped in, JJ, Pope and I started pushing the cart. We all started screaming as the guy chasing us was still chasing us! I jumped on, JJ did too.
" He's gaining, man."
Pope said" Oh, man!" As he fell,
John B said" Pope, get up! Let's go!" Pope jumped up and ran to us, Kie held out her hand, he grabbed it and pulled himself on. We started pushing the guy as he grabbed onto the cart, he fell, we all cheered.
JJ and I yelled" See you later, alligator!"
Pope said" See you later, Asshole. Oh my god!"
JJ yelled" Blowin' you a little big kiss."
