The reason for him even being in Metropolis was because his class was on a field trip to the place.

With the main part of the field trip, over, Spidey took this time to do something his best friend suggested.

Ned: Hey, you should just climb the highest building and do a leap of faith like in Assassin's Creed!

Ned: That would be so cool!

And so, that led to Spider-man, who was now on top of the Daily Planet, getting ready to jump.

Spiderman: Ohhhhh man... Never been this high up before...

Spiderman: Deep breathes Spidey! You can do it!

Spiderman: 3... 2... Geronimo!

Leaping off the building, Spidey begins free-falling down to the streets below.

Spiderman: Ohman, ohman, oh-

(Swoosh)

Spiderman: Man....?

No longer was he freefalling, instead, was in the arms of Metropolis's Friendly Neighborhood hero.

Spiderman: Uhhh... Hi...?

Superman: Do you mind explaining why you jumped off a building?

Superman: Because there are hotlines that could help.

Spiderman: What? No, no, no, no! I wasn't jumping- well I was...

Spiderman: Um, well, you see, I'm Spiderman. An up and rising hero.

The wall-crawler began climbing onto Superman's back.

Spiderman: I was trying to do a "leap of faith" before swinging away.

(Thwip)

Shooting a web, Spider-man began swinging beside Superman.

Spiderman: See?
