I tossed and turned trying to fall asleep, but I'm too agitated, it just isn't happening. I have every possible scenario running through my head at how tomorrow will play out. My conversation with Rhydian on the walk home has made everything ten times worse.

Every time I close my eyes I see the pained look of guilt and regret spiralling around Rhydian's eyes. This must have something to do with the conversation I heard between him and Lucas. I'm kicking myself for spending time with him...

I growled, flailing myself around on my bed like I'm possessed. I'm so fucking angry at myself. Why did I let him get this close?! It's almost like he's in my head. I know the mate band works in mysterious ways but how can you be so drawn to someone you don't want?

'But we do want him.' Aurora whined.

'No. I don't want anything to do with the mate bond. We still don't know if this is real.' I groaned.

I don't trust him but hell, if I don't want him here right now. I pulled the pillow from beside me and shoved it over my face. I took in a deep breath and vented all my frustration out into the pillow.

"Are you ok?" Rhydian's voice filled my mind making me jump. I removed the pillow from my face, holding it against my chest. "Yeah, I'm fine, why?" I asked, trying to calm my erratic breathing.

"I can sense your frustration. I know something is wrong."

How the hell is he sensing me? This doesn't make any sense at all. I need to speak to someone because this is really fucking with my head. This never happened before, Noah or Brett couldn't sense me. They didn't know when something was wrong. Maybe this could definitely be the real deal... I took a deep breath and turned on my side, pulling the blanket up under my chin.

"I'm just tired and can't sleep, that's all.' I reassured him so he wouldn't come beating down my door.

"Are you sure? I could come and keep you company?" He suggested. Aurora yapped happily in my mind.

"No, you're the reason I'm restless." I blurted without even realising. I slapped my hand across my mouth and paled.

"Oh, am I?" I could hear the smugness in his voice. I huffed loudly through the link so he could hear me. I heard him chuckle in response, it went straight to my core. What is going on with me? I'm never like this.

"Go to sleep," I growled through our link before blocking him out. I turned to lay on my back and stared at the ceiling.

I woke up to a knock on the door. I laid there confused, I don't remember falling asleep. I glanced at the window and could see the sunlight peeking through the curtains. The knocking on my door got louder, "I'm coming!" I yelled, frustrated.

I swung my legs off the bed and marched out of my room. I stomped down the stairs, angrily as the knocking continued. I made my way to the door and flung it open.

"Good morning, sunshine." Lucas exclaimed, cheerily. I glared at him as his expression faltered. "Still not a morning person, I see." He rolled his eyes and held up a brown paper bag in one hand and two coffee cups in the other. "You're lucky you brought coffee." I chuckled, stepping aside, letting him in.

He entered and went straight for my living room. I closed the door, rolling my eyes then followed after him. I went into the living room and he was already  tucking inte whatever food he had brought. He delved his hand into the bag, pulling out another pale pink bag with a logo on the front. I recognised it instantly, my mood lightened immediately as I took the bag from him.

I held the bag up to my nose and sniffed. "Chocolate croissant from Rubies." I stated, grinning at him. He nodded as I sat down on the sofa. I took one croissant out of the bag and took a bite. I moaned as the chocolate filling filled my mouth. "I missed this." I said. Lucas chuckled and screwed up his wrapper. "I could tell from the noises that were coming from you." He smirked, throwing his wrapper insi de the bag.

"So, you're telling Rhydian today?" He asked, eyeing me cautiously. I nodded as I finished my last piece of heaven. I pouted at the empty bag in my hand then sighed loudly. Lucas stuck his hand in the bag again then handed me another croissant. I beamed at him, "Thanks!" He nodded his head, chuckling. "Why don't you refer to him as Alpha?" I asked.

I've noticed whenever they are together he only really calls him Rhydian. "I do call him Alpha when it's we're being professional." He stated, "But you're my Alpha." He shrugged. I shook my head and sighed. "You will always be my Alpha." He smiled, placing his hand on mine.

I picked up my coffee and took a little sip. "How do you think the pack will react to the news about me?" I questioned, swirling my coffee around. "I think they will be absolutely fine, Amaris." He said with conviction. "They may be frightened at first but you can learn to control it now you're back. Your should also see about learning more about your wolf." He added.

I nodded, I knew he was right. I knew little things about my wolf. The witch that created my necklace for me was going to find out more about it. She was kind of like our advisor, her mate was killed by the same wolves that want me. So she helped me... But I left and avoided everyone so it's my fault I know next to nothing about my wolf.

"I'm thinking of sorting through dad's things tomorrow." I whispered but loud enough for him to hear me. He choked a little on his drink and glanced at me from the corner of his eyes. "Are you sure? There's no rush." He said.

I took a deep breath and nodded. "Will you help?" I asked, awkwardly. His gave me a bright smile and nodded. "Can I ask you something?" He questioned, rubbing the side of his neck. I nodded while having a drink.

"Why didn't you tell me you feel the mate bond with Rhydian?" His question caught me off guard. I choked on my drink, causing coffee to fly out of my mouth.
