✨M I R A A L✨

I looked up from my mobile phone to see my cousin, Ibaad, standing at the entrance of my room. I rolled my eyes and raised my eyebrows in question.

"Aa gaye mera sakoon barbad karnay?"

"Haw, ye koi tareeqa ha chhotay bhai se baat karnay ka? Abhi batata hun ammi ko kal raat chhup chhup ke Hamza bhai ke sath ishq larra rahin theen.."

I turned red from head to toe as I saw him snickering at my horrified expressions.

"Ibaad ke bachay, khabardaar jo aesa kuch kia. Pankhay se latka dena ha ma ne tumhay, langoor."

A frown etched upon his face at my choice of words. He walked inside my room and sat beside me. Throwing his arm around my shoulders he rested his head on mine.

"Aapi, sharam nahin aati apnay phool jaisay bhai ko langoor kahtay howay? Larkiyan iss shakal ko dekh kar dhar-dhar-dhar behosh hojati hain. Aur ak tum ho."

I turned my face to him and grinned.

"Acha jee? Pata nahin konsi larkiyan hain ye? Humna ne tau aaj tak ghaans nahe daali."

I watched his expressions turn sour at the mention of Humna. It was my turn to smirk.

"Aesi koi baat nahin. Bus bichari sharma jaati ha."

I rolled my eyes at his pathetic of an excuse.

"Haan bhai, dunya jahan ki sharam ussi ma samma gayi ha na jesay. Ye sub chhoro aur mujhay batao yahan aye kyun thay."

He pulled his head away from mine and looked at me with a serious expression.

"Wau, aapi.."

I frowned at him and waited for him to continue.

"Aapi, ma abhi baba ki study se aa raha hoon. Taya abbu bhi wahin thay. Dono Hamid uncle se kisi jhagray ke baaray ma baat kar rahay thay. Maamla serious lagta ha."

My eyes widened as I listened to him. Hamid uncle was Hamza's father. Their family and ours have been family friends and business partners for years. Never in my life have I ever seen them fight or get into any arguments.

"Kya matlab ha? Kesa jhagra? Hamza never mentioned anything to me yesterday. Usay pata ha kya?"

"I think it has something to do with a business deal. Pata nahin ke Hamza bhai jaantay hain ke nahin, lakin if it is about business, tau pakka jaantay hongay. As far as I know, Hamid uncle never keeps anything from him when it comes to business."

My frown deepened as I thought about it. Could they really be fighting over some business deal?

Ibaad looked at my worried expression and hugged me to his side.

"Don't worry, aapi. Sub theek hojayega. Wasay bhi I know our parents would never let their issues be a hurdle between Hamza bhai and your relationship. You guys are married, kya hee bigaad lein ge? LOL."

I smiled a bit and hugged him back tighter.

"I hope so, Ibbi."

"AAPI!"

His expressions instantly went from being hopeful to annoyed. I laughed as he pushed me back and stomped out of my room.

It couldn't be that serious, right? Baba and Uncle have been best friends for years, after all. Even if it was something serious, Hamza would have told me for sure.

✨H A M Z A✨

I laid on my bed thinking about what dad told me last night. I was lost deep into my thoughts until I heard my phone ring. I saw Miraal's picture light up my phone screen and a huge grin etched onto my face.

"Hey darling," I turned on my side as I spoke into the phone.

"Hamza, apnay mujhay bataya nahe there's some problem going on between uncle and baba.."

Gayi bhens paani ma. Exactly what I wanted to happen.

"Tumsay kisnay kaha, Miraal? Aesi koi baat nahin, chhota sa masla ha, business ma tau aesa hota rehta ha na, pareshaan honay ki baat nahe ha jaan."

"Hamza, hum dono jaantay hain aaj tak baba aur uncle kabhi larre nahi, business se related tau bilkul bhi nahin. Mujhay saaf saaf batayen kya baat ha."

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before explaining to her what exactly happened.

"Miraal, meri jaan, meri baat dhayn se sun'na. Kamal uncle's company has been facing huge losses lately. Your company has been in heavy debts since the past 6 months. Therefore dad has no choice, but to part his shares from your company."

My heart dropped a little as I told her everything. There was pin drop silence on the other side for 5 minutes straight until she finally spoke up.

"Debt..?"

"Haan meri jaan, but it's okay, parting shares from your company does not mean we won't try our best to help uncle out. We're still trying our best ke aesa na karna parray, but my uncle who lives in America, Amjad chacha, he won't hear a word about it. He wants this to happen and we cannot oppose because his demand is fair and he is equally rightful of the company. Kamal uncle is mad at dad for not speaking against Chacha."

"B-but Hamza, ye koi chhoti baat tau nahe ha. Dad has spent his entire life working hard to get this company to where it was. How can his years of hardwork be shattered in a few months? Aesay kesay hosakta ha.."

I felt a pang in my heart as I heard her shaky voice, I was about to speak up when she continued,"

"A-aur, what about us, Hamza? Jaantay ho baba harr uss cheez say nafrat karnay lagtay hain jo unki naqamyabi se jurri hoti ha. W-what if h-he doesn't let us do the r-rukhs-"

I frowned as I heard her say those words and interrupted in between,

"Ye kya baat ki ha tumnay, Miraal? Hamara nikkah huwa ha, koi mazak nahe. Biwi ho tum meri. Koi tumhe meray paas rukhsat hokar aanay se rok nahe sakta."

"But Hamza.."

"No, not a word any more, Miraal. Don't worry so much, baby. I'm right here. Nobody, and I repeat, nobody can stop me from having what's mine. You're mine, Miraal. Okay?"

I spoke into the phone as I felt my blood boil. Nobody could take her away from me.

"I love you, Hamza."

I felt myself relax a bit as I heard her soothing voice. Nothing else could calm me down more than hearing her say these words to me.

"I love you too, Miraal Hamza Hamid, hudd se zyada."

I smiled as I knew she must have turned scarlet red at the mention of her name being attached to mine.

God, I love this woman..
