so, um, the imitation game hit 100,000 reads?!?!?!?! that's actually wild. i had no idea when i started posting my little broadway book that so many people were going to enjoy it.
here's the thing: i try not to read too much into numbers on this website, because anyone who writes on here will know that it wrecks your mental health to constantly compare your books with each other and with other authors'. and so much of how well a book does has to do with algorithm things that we don't have any control over, or if a popular account adds it to a reading list that a lot of people see, etc. some of the absolute best books i've ever read on this site had relatively low amounts of reads.
to be transparent, wattpad has gotten rid of a lot of features in the past several years—such as the community forum and newsfeed—that made it a lot easier for people to discover new books. some of my old, cringey, now-unpublished stuff from pre-2017 made it to that 100k mark, but i never expected to get there again when i returned to this account in 2020 after a 3-year hiatus. i quickly discovered that that kind of readership just doesn't happen organically on here anymore.
so the fact that it *did* for the imitation game is pretty mind-boggling to me, and i'm very very grateful to all of you for sticking around through my highs and lows.
a celebratory blood in the water chapter will be up as soon as i can finish it, which will hopefully be this weekend. for now, all i have to say is thank you all <3
