Well, this was my last day in H/T (hometown). As far as school goes, I'm not going to miss it too much. My old school, H/S (high school), wasn't exactly the nicest place to be, but I'd rather be there than at home. I didn't have too many friends there anyways so I think that's a good thing. I've only ever got so far as to make acquaintances. I could never get close to anyone especially since everyone there is indescribably full of themselves and extremely self centered. All they care about is themselves, not others. So, yeah. I'm hoping to get a fresh start and make some good friends in Forks High School. If not, I'm used to being a lone wolf anyways.

My mother picked me up from school early today so I could pack the rest of my things up. After that, I was on a plane to Forks. Speaking of my mother, she isn't a saint. She's quite the narcissist and manipulator. She never laid a finger on me, but it was mostly just mental abuse. She'd say things to put me down or just gaslight me. Other times she'd body shame me or tell me I'm not good enough for anyone. Not even her. As you can tell, I'm very happy to be leaving.

When I did get home, I made a b-line to my room and gathered the rest of my things. I couldn't wait to leave. So much happened in these past few months, and I'm ready to leave it all behind. Especially my mom. If I could choose to, I'd stay in Forks with my father Charlie, but I'm only 17 years old. I'm not a legal adult unfortunately. She still has custody over me.

As I was packing the rest of my things, I heard my phone ringing from across the room on my desk. I walked over and answered it, hearing my father's voice.

     "Hey, N/N. (nickname)" he said.

"Hey dad! What's up?" I answered, happily.

He sighed, "Oh nothing, I just wanted to see how you were with the move and all of that.. business," I heard him chuckle a bit.

"It's been good honestly. Mom's just been a little up my ass lately about it. She just can't wait to get me out of here,"

"I'm sure you can't wait either, huh?" he replied. I could hear him smile.

"Oh yeah. I need a change in scenery," I said, throwing my clothes in some boxes.

"I hear ya. Well hey, when you get here I have a little surprise for you," he said.

     "Wait, really?"

He huffed, "Yeah of course. I can't tell you, obviously, but I think you're going to like it,"

"I'm sure I'll like it," I smiled, "anyways, I have to finish packing today. I'll see you soon, okay?"

"Okay, I'll let you go," he said, "I love you, Y/N."

"I love you, too, dad." I said and hung up.

I finished packing the rest of my things in my boxes and bags. I then loaded my mothers SUV and shut the trunk door. I went back into the house and my mother was calling for me.

     "Y/N!!"

     I sighed, exhausted, "Yes, mom?"

     "Did you pack?"

     "Yes I did,"

"Okay, then put it in the trunk,"

     "I just did," I replied.

"Oh... so you do have common sense. More than your father," she said, grabbing her keys.

I was hurt by her comment but brushed it off. I've heard a lot worse than that. We got in her car and drove off to the airport soon after. The car ride was silent besides the occasional cough or sniffle. As we were driving I couldn't help but look out the window and observe the scenery passing by. You could say I was having my "movie moment". I watched the trees and grass swaying as we passed, but I couldn't help but feel a little sad about leaving. I was excited, yes, but the creeping feeling of starting completely new began to sprout. I let the feeling fill me up, until I snatched myself out of negative thought, and continued to think of how happy I would be with my father. I would prefer it that way anyways.

After a long drive, the airport came into view and my heart began to race a bit. Not from fear, but excitement and anticipation. My mother parked her car and told me to grab whatever I could carry. She would help with the rest. Surprising. I thought. She never helped me with anything. I guess I'm seeing her happiness that I'm leaving. We walked down the parking lot and entered the airport. I then checked in, went through a security check, and got ready to board. When my bridge was called, I shot up from my seat and grabbed my bags. My mother then turned to me and gave me her goodbyes.

"I know we don't get along too well, but..." she trailed off.

For the first time, she's really trying to be emotionally available to me. I thought.

     "I'll miss you," she finished.

I just nodded and said, "I'll see you,"

Before I could leave she grabbed my arm and pulled me in for a quick hug. She then let go quickly, and left me there. I never thought she was even capable of human touch. Even her saying she was going to miss me threw me off.

I made sure I had everything, and boarded my plane. Before we took off, I texted my father that I was on the flight and would be there in a few hours. After that, I put my phone on airplane mode, and we took off. I soon fell asleep in my seat listening to my music, and dreamt of Forks and a new life there.
