WHAT WAS I MADE FOR / BILLIE EILISH.

chapter twenty four, act two ;
the heaviest burden
mara cayden.

victor's village, district eleven.
january, 72 att.

                    MERCY SCOFFS. It's harsher than needed, perhaps, but she supposes it's better than being treated like a porcelain doll; though it's still rough and abrasive and stings, Mara doesn't entirely hate it. She doesn't think she could truly hate anything Mercy says, since the old woman is still here, still persisting. Mara gave up on herself long ago. Grandmother's eyes are tired, angry, and ever so slightly sad. Her granddaughter died in the arena ▬▬▬ and she knows it's true, because she relives it each night in hazy, confusing dreams.
