Being a black woman in the medical field can be a harsh world sometimes. You've got all the odds against you being black and being a woman, entering a field where there's not many others that look like you. Safiya (or Safi for short) is a young Kenyan woman who has finally finished her last year of medical school and was accepted into a residency program at Boston Children's pediatric neurology unit. She is the proud mother of two young boys and navigating life with Eman, the man who came out of her dreams. While the residency period is tough, she was not prepared for what life would bring her outside of the hospital.
